if you pay attention to re games, you can choose if to play with a woman or a male, see re1 (chris or jill) see re2 (leon or claire) see re3 (carlos and jill) see re4 (leon and ada) see re code veronica (claire and chris) and in both versions, male or/and female character survive!!
all good buddies survive in resident evil!!
instead in the movie it's the opposite, carlos (tha good buddy) dies and wesker lives
same for ALL the others, such as ALL the S.T.A.R.S. members killed very easily and all at once by nemesis in apocalypse....S.T.A.R.S., especially if all together, is able to kick nemesis's ass. The only reason why nemesis killed brad is that he was ALONE. Think about chris + barry + jill + brad against nemesis.....
